Email & Telegram Setup
If you wish to receive notifications or trade alerts by email or Telegram to your PC or mobile device you will first need to do some configuration to the cTrader Desktop application and create a Telegram bot and obtain your credentials.
Configure Email
If you want to receive an email message when there is a trade notification from the cTrader platform or if an alert or message is sent using one of the indicators or cBots downloaded at ClickAlgo.com, you will first need to configure your email settings. To open the settings widow for cTrader Desktop, just click on the gear icon in the bottom left hand corner.
In the settings window, choose Email option to start the configuration.
Gmail Accounts
Many of our customers use Gmail accounts, if you wish to configure your account with cTrader make sure you use the following settings if you wish to have emails sent to your account.
- Use SSL: Yes
- SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com
- Port:: If port 587 doesn't work for you try 465.
- Use Authentication: Yes
- Username: your Gmail account.
- Password: your Gmail password
Gmail Security Block
There is a known issue sending emails via cTrader using Gmail accounts, a security block may occur. - How To Unblock Gmail
Yahoo Accounts
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server
- Server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com
- Port - 465 or 587
- Requires SSL - Yes
- Requires TLS - Yes (if available)
- Requires authentication - Yes
Hotmail Accounts
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server
- Server - smtp.office365.com
- Port - 587
- Requires SSL - Yes
- Requires TLS - Yes (if available)
- Requires authentication - Yes
Test Your Settings
Once you have configured your email settings with cTrader, you will need to test that an email can be sent to you, the easiest way to do this is to download our email testing cBot.
Configure Telegram
Telegram is a cloud-based instant messaging app that focuses on speed, security, and user privacy, it was launched in 2013 and has gained popularity for its features and commitment to user privacy with Forex and day traders. We use Telegram as a service to send messages from our indicators or cBots and in order to use this feature you will need to do the following steps.
- Sign up for Telegram and create your first Bot.
- You will need a Chat ID and Bot Token to use in our software.
