Install cTrader Desktop

If you plan to trade the financial markets you will need to use a trading platform for technical analysis, charting and submitting your orders and also a broker to take and fullfil these orders, we will show you how the trading platform and also help you choose a broker. Installing cTrader Desktop is very simple, just follow the steps below.

Sign up with a Broker

You can open a risk free demo account to practice your trading or you can open a live account to start with real money.

cTrader is not a broker, it is an electronic trading platform that send orders between you and the broker and what is called a “liquidity provider”.

Install cTrader

Once you have created an account with the broker, your next step is to download cTrader and install the application.

You can download cTrader Desktop, Web, iPhone or Android.

Troubleshooting

On rare occasions there can be issues installing cTrader, the folloowing troubleshooting guide will help.

Turn off your anti-virus software and attempt to install cTrader Desktop, if this fails you can attempt a complete clean install, just follow the steps below.

For Windows 10, 11

  1. Close any running instance of cTrader.
  2. Restart your computer.
  3. Hold down Windows + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box, copy and paste appwiz.cpl in it and click OK to open the Programs and Features panel.
  4. Find cTrader in the list and uninstall it - select it and click Uninstall/Change.
  5. Hold down Windows + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box, copy and paste %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Apps into it, and click OK.
  6. Delete the 2.0 folder and close the Windows Explorer.
  7. Hold down Windows + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box, and enter %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming in it, and click OK.
  8. Delete the following folders: cTrader, %BROKERNAME% cTrader, %BROKERNAME% cAlgo, %BROKERNAME% cTraderUsers, %BROKERNAME% -cTraderCommon, then close Windows Explorer.
  9. In the Windows Start Menu select Documents, and rename cAlgo and cTrader folders (so that you will not lose any data).
  10. Restart your computer.
  11. Launch Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool.
  12. Download and install cTrader.

For Windows 7, 8, 8.1

  1. Close any running instance of cTrader.
  2. Restart your computer.
  3. Hold down Windows + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box. Copy and paste appwiz.cpl into it and click OK to open the Programs and Features panel.
  4. Find cTrader in the list of the installed programs, and uninstall it - select it and click Uninstall/Change.
  5. Find .NET framework in the list, and uninstall it as well (restart your computer if prompted).
  6. Hold down Windows + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box. Copy and paste %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Apps in it, and click OK.
  7. Delete the 2.0 folder and close the Windows Explorer.
  8. Hold down Windows + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box again. Copy and paste %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming in it, and click OK.
  9. Delete the following folders: cTrader, %BROKERNAME% cTrader, %BROKERNAME% cAlgo, %BROKERNAME% cTraderUsers, %BROKERNAME% -cTraderCommon, and close the Windows Explorer.
  10. In the Windows Start Menu select Documents, and rename cAlgo and cTrader folders (so that you will not lose any user data), then restart your computer.
  11. Install the latest .NET Framework from the Microsoft official website.
  12. Restart your computer again.
  13. Download and install cTrader.

Mac OS 10, 11

There is no known issues installing cTrader on the Macintosh.
