Choose Your Indicators
This version of the algorithmic strategy builder allows you to use 8 different types of moving average indicators and the Relative Strength Index indicator, eventually all of the standard and some popular custom indicators will be added.
Indicator Types
There are currently 9 different types of indicators as listed below, this list will grow with regular updates.
- Simple Moving Average
- Exponential Moving Average
- Weighted Moving Average
- Hull Moving Average
- VIDYA
- Times Series
- Welles Wilder Smoothing
- Triangular
- Relative Strength Index
Adding Indicators
It is good practice to add all the indicators you feel you may use for your strategy before you start defining your trade rules in the next step. To do this just select the indicator type and then the indicator you want to add. In the bottom panel you will see the settings for the indicator you just selected, this is where you set the period, timeframe and other settings.
You can currently add up to 50 indicators to build your trading strategy.
Indicator Settings
When you have selected the indicator you wish to use from the dropdown list, the panel below will update with the settings that you can configure. Currently the data source is fixed as Closed prices. One of the unique features of the strategy builder is the option to select different timeframes from 1 minute to monthly to provide a multi-timeframe trading strategy.
Request Indicators
We understand that to build a robust strategy, you need more indicators to select, this is why we are open to suggestions to add more indicators to the free tool, please submit your request below.
Hot Tips
- Make sure you know the strategy you wish to build before you start adding the indicators. Once complete, click on the Trader Rules tab.
- If you add a new indicator the trade rules are reset, add all the indicators you may want to use if you change the strategy at a later date.
