Converting Indicators

Select Convert Indicator for MQL4 or another platform's indicator source that needs an MQL5 version. Attach one complete source file, confirm permission and add optional notes where the target behaviour needs clarification. The output is a MetaTrader 5 indicator.

Keep the original available for comparison when you have the right to use it. Record periods, inputs, signal bars and display settings. Compare numeric values and confirmation timing as well as the visual resemblance of the charts.

Preserve the calculation

Explain platform-specific price series, smoothing and dependencies. Similar indicator names can hide different defaults or calculation details. Identify what must be preserved and what you intentionally want changed, so the conversion does not introduce undocumented assumptions.

If another program will read the MQL5 indicator, describe the required buffers and input order. Specify signal values and what represents no signal. A chart object is not automatically a replacement for a buffer used by an EA, so make the intended integration explicit.

Files and visual references

Submit only source you own or have permission to convert. Xen's acknowledgement does not change the original licence. Conversion accepts one complete source file up to 32 KB; dependencies may still require additional integration work.

A screenshot can help with styles, arrow placement and chart-window choices. Describe those details in text too. The image cannot establish the calculation or prove that signals were stable in real time, so it supplements the editable source rather than replacing it.

Check signal timing

Compile the result and compare matching inputs and timeframes. Inspect old signals, the most recent completed candle and the forming candle. Reload the indicator to see whether markers move, disappear or only become confirmed after more bars arrive.

Swing and ZigZag-style indicators can deliberately recalculate recent output. Document that behaviour rather than assuming a historical marker was available at the time it is drawn. Return specific dates and values through Existing Indicators when further changes are needed after conversion.
